Montreal, March 13, 2018 – The Tribunal administratif du travail (administrative labour tribunal) has recently certified the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC-Quebec) as the union representing the Research Centre of the Douglas Mental Health University Institute (Douglas RC). Readers will recall that on December 22, PSAC-Quebec filed an application for certification to represent all Douglas RC employees.

Montreal, March 9, 2018 – The Public Service Alliance of Canada, Quebec Region (PSAC-Quebec) has reached an agreement with the Université de Montréal (UdeM). The agreement, which was signed this morning, puts an end to the various legal actions filed in the Superior Court of Quebec since 2016. “We are satisfied with the agreement,” said Magali Picard, Executive Vice-President of PSAC-Quebec. “For us, it’s a first step towards better labour relations.”

For the second consecutive year, the PSAC-Quebec Women’s Committee will be presenting the Exceptional Women Award. It was unanimously agreed by the regional coordinators that from now on, the competition is to be called the Magali Picard Award. It will be presented on March 8, International Women’s Day. We realized in no time that this wonderful woman and outstanding communicator inspired us, shared our feminist principles, cherished the values of social justice and inclusion and made a difference in our workplaces through her representation of us all.

Montreal, February 28, 2018 – At 6 a.m. this morning, approximately one hundred members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, Quebec Region (PSAC-Quebec), began demonstrating in front of the federal building at 715, Peel Street in Montreal. Their action marks the second anniversary of the Phoenix pay system and is intended to denounce the pay problems the system has generated. The members’ action disrupted the arrival of federal employees at their workplace this morning.
